health insurance premiums already rising
Our insurance premium with $5000/each deductible went up 14% in Dec 2011 from $1125 per month to $1284.86 per month, a 14% increase. We have not had an actual claim over our $5000 deductibles in the last 6 years. I pay out of pocket over $300 for a yearly mammogram which is "covered" but not paid for, as well as another $200 for Pap tests, "covered" but not paid for, my first colonoscopy was this year, another $2500 "covered" but not paid for. But bless you, my insurance rates can keep going up because you need me to help pay for your monthly contraceptives. I hope our insurance company applied for and got this rate increase to cover all you young ladies who want free birth control, free Ella drugs, free tubal ligations, etc. I hope that increase was for you but I suspect we will get hit with another 14% increase next year when the HHS mandate actually takes effect. Afterall you are worth it and now your sex partners do not need to take any financial responsibility or mess up their satisfaction with nasty condoms since you can go get the Ella pill up to 5 days after unprotected sex or simply get free contraceptives since my $180 per month increase will pay for 3 of you to get totally free contraceptives. I agree we women have been mistreated, afterall men get viagra "free" with health insurance but hey, they have a disfunction, right. Now that pregnancy is a disease, it's prevention is paid for with no copay. Let's see what else we can get classified as a disease.
I must pay the full price on antibiotic perscriptions but heck I'm only taking them to "prevent" infection before a dental procedure and its only a 10 day supply once a year, not like your preventative expenses which will be every month for the next 2 or 3 decades.
But hey, the white house says that the Affordable Health Care Act will not cost the insurance companies anything to provide monthly contraceptives to 1 million women at $60/month. $720 million, no they can absorb that because of the reduction in other needs since all women are now healthy if they are taking contraceptives they won't have any more claims.
Katherine Sebelius is probably having a good laugh at screwing Catholics, I wonder what ticked her off so much. She sure found a great way to get back at the church didn't she? I wonder what Ms. Sebelius pays monthly for her health insurance? How about Ms. Boxer? or Ms. Pelosi. They want to do this for the poor but they want me to pay for it with my insurance premiums. That's a cleaver way for them to give to charity, mandate it. Our government has become the determiner of winners and losers.
Ms Sebelius has made losers of middle class people who have worked hard all their lives paying owed taxes (Katherine Sebelius had $8000 in overlooked owed unpaid taxes just like several of the zars. Taxes which got paid only when they got caught), paying their bills, buying homes they could manage the payments on. Ms Pelosi really pulled the wool over our eyes when she said "let's just get this thing passed so we can find out what's in it". These people don't need campaign contributions, they are buying votes by giving free contraceptives paid for with our insurance premiums.
Obama extoled the great benefits of the Affordable Health Care Act saying that insurance premiums would be going down with the reduced cost of health care the PAHCA provides. I guess that didn't fly as he already admits that the cause of the premium increases may indeed be a reaction to the mandates. "Oh my bad" he says and there are a lot more mandates to come. HHS has the power.
Forget Right to Conscience Protection. "No one has the right to refuse to pay for my contraceptives" says the women's lib. They write "get out of my uterus" on their faces a parade around demanding the freebees. I say "get your uterus out of my pocketbook". They yell lies like "Catholic schools get federal dollars so just buck up and fork over the money to pay for items I want whether they are against your conscience or not. Is their hate for religious beliefs so great?
How can someone driving a new car or SUV and watching a plasma TV demand that I contribute to their monthly sexual expenses or pay up for their tubal ligation. They yell it is for the poor but can't wait to get some free stuff for themselves. How has this come about in our country? When did regular people who never thought of themselves as welfare cases come to demand free services? Could it be some "community organizing" going on?
Rouse the troops, set neighbor against neighbor, family member against family member, rich against poor, create more poor by sucking the money from the middle class, create as much controversy as possible till it boils over and we all hate each other and then the government moves in, confiscates Catholic hospitals and small businesses to be run by the government.
Stories abound: I have read of girls going to a Catholic University and then complaining about not being able to get the morning after pill at the infirmary. Why did they apply to a Catholic University in the first place?
Planned Parenthood tried to get the St Vincent food pantry truck to come park outside their building to pick up food items but really for a photo op. When told no pickup was available but that planned parenthood could deliver the food to the drop off box then the planned parenthood women rallied the troops to post ugly statements on their blog stating that Catholics are now against feeding the poor. Community organizing at its best wouldn't you say. What an ugly stunt to pull and we wonder why our children think that bullying is OK.
On another note, some members of congress also think bullying is perfectly OK as they flex their political power over Kohmen. People can make their donations directly to planned parenthood as did the NY gentleman who forked over a $200,000 donation when Kohmen pulled support. But no, the honorable women from congress flexed their muscles and demanded that Kohmen restore the appropriation to planned parenthood. A better example would have been to open their own pocketbooks o make up the difference. But no, they wanted to show their power and bully Kohmen into submission. What did that have to do with the congress of the United States? Was Kohmen hoarding the money donated for breast cancer research? Had Kohmen promised if you ran in their race that planned parenthood would get monies. I did not see that on my entry form. Was it just another good example of community organization?
Three states have had 20% premium increases approved by the HHS since January.
As Obamacare Mandates Kick In, Insurance Premiums Spike—Three States See 20 Percent Increases
February 24, 2012
Candidate Barack Obama promised to “lower premiums by up to $2,500 for a typical family per year.” Instead, news reports today highlighted significant premium increases, with three states now seeing increases of at least 20 percent. Politico Pro reported, “HHS approved premium rate hikes of 26 percent in Alaska, 23.3 percent in Florida and 20.4 percent in Washington state, according to decisions posted on an HHS website. That’s after approving a hike of 18 percent for a Montana insurer in November.”
The Obama administration even admits the health care law’s mandates are to blame for the premium increases. As Politico reports, “The rate increase, HHS explained, was the result of the insurer adjusting to benefit changes required by federal law.”
Critics, including members of the Energy and Commerce Committee, have often questioned the administration’s contention that premiums will decrease as a result of a law that forces employers and insurance companies to provide a package of federally prescribed benefits. As implementation of the law continues, these concerns are increasingly validated. And as the administration is always quick to point out, there’s a lot more to come. Many of the law’s most onerous and burdensome mandates do not take effect until 2014. If recent developments are predictive of future trends, Americans can expect their premiums to continue to rise.
